Brake pads are an essential part of any vehicle's braking system and, without them, your car would not be able to halt or slow down effectively - meaning it would not be roadworthy. Brake pads that are wearing down will impact the performance of your vehicle, and you will likely be able to feel when they start to become less effective. They work when the brakes of your car are applied; the caliper squeezes the two pads on each wheel together against the spinning rotor. This slows or stops the motion of the wheel. If you feel your vehicle is not responding well to braking, it could be time to change your pads.
At Black Diamond, all of our brake pads are of the highest possible standard. Each pad has been made to meet the manufacturers' requirements to provide you with the highest performance and safest drive possible. Kia Motors is the biggest vehicle producer in Korea besides Hyundai, and can trace its automotive history back to 1952. However, Korea actually goes even further back than that, to 1944, when the company designed and handmade bicycle parts and steel pipes. At that time it was known across Korea as the “Kyungsung Precision Industry”.
Kia made its debut in Europe in 1991 with the Kia Pride supermini - a reinvented version of the Mazda 121 from the late 1980s. Although initially very popular, sales eventually started to fall and the model was discontinued in May 2000. Its successor, the Rio, then came to market in 2001.
Following the launch of the Pride, Kia broadened its European range in early 1994 when it started importing the bigger sized Mentor, an assortment of mid-sized sedans and hatchbacks and sedans to rival the alternatives such as the Ford Escort and the Vauxhall/Opel Astra in terms of quality and value for money. In 1999 the Mentor underwent a facelift and a branch-off hatchback named the Shuma was launched. Both models stayed on sale until 2004, when the upgraded Kia Cerato was unveiled giving Kia a serious leg-up against mainstream brands. The Clarus saloon and Sedona MPV then came to market in the UK during 1999 again boosting Kia’s popularity. Then came the hugely popular Kia Sportage SUV range in 1995, followed in 2002 by the even more popular - and larger - Kia Sorento.
The Soul ‘EV’ is Kia’s first completely electric vehicle. Very similar to the standard Soul it comes with some impressive technological improvements. Then there’s the Niro Plug-in Hybrid, a modern crossover with all the fuel efficiency and luxury you would expect. And finally there's the Optima plug-in Hybrid range. Low on emissions and high in style, they are both sporty and roomy with plenty of eye-catching detail.
