Brake pads are an essential part of any vehicle's braking system and, without them, your car would not be able to halt or slow down effectively - meaning it would not be roadworthy. Brake pads that are wearing down will impact the performance of your vehicle, and you will likely be able to feel when they start to become less effective. They work when the brakes of your car are applied; the caliper squeezes the two pads on each wheel together against the spinning rotor. This slows or stops the motion of the wheel. If you feel your vehicle is not responding well to braking, it could be time to change your pads.
At Black Diamond, all of our brake pads are of the highest possible standard. Each pad has been made to meet the manufacturers' requirements to provide you with the highest performance and safest drive possible. Caterham Cars is a UK producer of specially designed lighter weight sports cars. Originally from Caterham, Surrey, the brand’s headquarters are now in Crawley, Sussex. Their most recent model, the Caterham Seven, is a direct upgrade from the Series 3 Lotus Seven. The brand unveiled the extremely popular Caterham 21 in the 1990s, a two-seat convertible similar to the Lotus Elise and MGF. A car built for the track only, the SP/300R, was launched for customer testing as a joint project with Lola in 2010 before being due for release in 2013. Tony Fernandes, owner of Team Lotus, revealed that he had bought Caterham in April 2011.
Caterham engines have historically been supplied by Ford, namely Cosworth-based BDA/R units or Ford Kent engines. These were increased in size to 1.7 litres and generated 150–170 bhp. During the early years of the 1990s, Caterham began using powerplants which were not from Ford, with the cheaper base models using 1.4-litre K-series engines courtesy of MG Rover, as well as Vauxhall engines included on Vauxhall Works Touring Cars of 1990. Rover designed engines offered - in the case of the R500 Evolution - a power output of 110–250 bhp, whilst Vauxhall ones kicked out 165 bhp (123 kW; 167 PS) to 320 bhp (239 kW; 324 PS) in certainly factory-produced versions of the car. A 250 bhp Caterham JPE briefly achieved the world record for a production car that could do 0 to 60 mph in 3.4 seconds. This was then bettered by the $1M McLaren F1.
Several of the aftermarket tuning companies for Caterham cars have also offered the Honda Fireblade, Suzuki Hayabusa, Honda Blackbird, Ford Zetec and even the Mazda Rotary engine. Since 2017, several vehicles have been manufactured with the Ford Ecoboost 1.6 litre version of this engine which when coupled with a hybrid turbo can produce more horsepower than Caterham's own supercharged Duratec.
Finding Caterham parts for your vehicle used to mean hours of searching the internet or contacting multiple parts dealers. Thanks to us, this is now longer the case.
