Brake pads are an essential part of any vehicle's braking system and, without them, your car would not be able to halt or slow down effectively - meaning it would not be roadworthy. Brake pads that are wearing down will impact the performance of your vehicle, and you will likely be able to feel when they start to become less effective. They work when the brakes of your car are applied; the caliper squeezes the two pads on each wheel together against the spinning rotor. This slows or stops the motion of the wheel. If you feel your vehicle is not responding well to braking, it could be time to change your pads.
At Black Diamond, all of our brake pads are of the highest possible standard. Each pad has been made to meet the manufacturers' requirements to provide you with the highest performance and safest drive possible. The BMW 1 Series was the company's first small car to be built in the modern era. To keep BMW's reputation as a driver's car, the company stuck with rear-wheel drive for better weight distribution and handling. There is a 1 Series that's front wheel drive, the F52, but it is manufactured and marketed solely in China.
Introduced in 2004, the 1 Series has opened up BMW ownership to a new market and by 2012 over half a million examples had been produced. If you're a 1 Series owner and want to make sure you keep your car in the best condition, get your parts from us.
The first generation ran from 2004 to 2013 and was initially offered as a five-door hatchback. By this time BMW had moved to a production naming system that gave a separate code to each distinctive body style so this was labelled the E87. Three years after launch, the range was significantly widened. First, a three-door hatchback (E81) was added to the line-up, then a two-door coupe (E82) and a convertible (E88).
The coupe and convertible ceased production in 2013. Although completely new versions were developed, they would be launched a year later as part of the new 2 Series range so were no longer considered part of the 1 Series.
Although significantly shorter than the E90 3 Series, the 1 Series contained roughly 60% of its components with the 3 Series, particularly the electronics and the drivetrain, chassis, suspension and other structural components.
A second, current generation was launched in 2017 to continue the success of the small BMW - in 2008 the 1 Series accounted for nearly 20% of all BMW global sales. The new version only has the three and five-door hatchbacks in the range as the coupe and cabriolet are now part of the new 2 Series - built on a new front-wheel drive platform shared with the new MINI.
The three-door variant is known as the F21 and the five-door the F20. Both models stick with the traditional longitudinal engine and rear drive layout, although a four-wheel-drive option is available, using the company's 'Xdrive' system.
If you're one of the many BMW 1 Series owners you will want to keep your car in excellent condition with high-quality parts at the best prices. We have very fast UK delivery and can ship worldwide too.
With our price match promise, you can't go wrong - order your parts today.
From near bankruptcy in 1960 and fighting off acquisition by American Motors and the UK's Rootes Group, BMW has risen to become one of the most respected car brands in the world - producing more than 2 million vehicles for the first time in 2017.
A prestige brand, the range now covers every mainstream car niche and a few that the company has invented itself, like the fastback SUV crossovers now in the X range.
Although now known by the 1 to 8 Series branding, with some recent offshoots, our involvement with BMW starts with the 'New Class' models that rescued the company in the 60s and 70s. We still carry parts for the 1500 and its larger brothers, as well as the iconic 2002, the forerunner of the all-conquering 3 Series.
The 2002 and 3 Series established BMW as a drivers car brand although the 5 Series was the first modern 'Series' car, in 1972. The smaller 3 Series followed in 1975, the 6 Series coupe in 1976 and the larger 7 Series saloons in 1978. Smaller cars followed much later with the popular 1 Series.
In 1994 BMW had bought out the Rover Group which included the Land Rover and Mini brands. After six years BMW off-loaded the remnants of the group, retaining the Mini brand to launch a retro version in 2001. The fruits of Land Rover ownership were realised with the launch of the X5 SUV in 1999, a risky undertaking given BMW's reputation for sporting models. But it proved so successful that there are now 'X' version of every Series bar the 2 and 7 Series, and they are rumoured to be on the way.
Since 1972 the BMW Motorsport division has been producing high-performance versions of production cars alongside its race cars. There was some dabbling with an M535i in the very first 5 Series but it was with the M5, based on the second generation 5 Series, that the 'M for motorsport' variants really took off, following up with the iconic M3.
BMW has also been producing coupe versions of its saloons throughout its modern history. The company then introduced a proper mass-production two-seater sports car with the Z3 in 1995, followed by the Z4 in 2002.
BMW has also launched BMW I - a separate brand of all-electric cars which launched the i3 city car in 2013 and a full-on sports car, the i8, in 2014. It's also now possible to buy hybrid versions of cars in the 5, 2, 3 and 7 Series ranges, with more on the way.
With such a wide range of vehicles, with so many variants, it's no wonder that many parts suppliers can't cover the whole BMW range. But here we have parts for all models from the 1500 up to the latest electric cars.
Why not give Euro Performance a call for the parts you need right now?
